You will learn:
- Basics: Blocks – Strikes – Kicks. The constant cornerstone of all techniques, from both simple to advanced, the quality of your every move will come back to the quality of your Basics.
- Poomsae: Poomsae were designed as a self practice technique for the original warriors to enable them to maintain and develop whilst unable to attend formal training. They are really the key to it all and really tap into the “energy” that surrounds Taekwondo.
- Self Defence: Useful, sensible, logical, effective Self Defense techniques. Remember…it’s someone else that chooses when you may need them.
It’s you that chooses which of them to use.
The modern day Poomsae were actually created for World Taekwondo by Lindsay & Maria’s Grandmaster, PARK Hae-man 9th Dan. This was based on the view that he had the finest technique and understanding in all Korea. Mr PARK has visited our school many times and is extremely complimentary regarding our quality, teaching and students.
- You will always start at your own pace. As a Beginner in the class you will start with a warm up within the squad. This is a set of moves that will warm up your whole body and will entail some stretching exercises as well.
- We monitor closely and encourage all Beginners to take it a little easy for the first few classes, to work up to it at your own pace. There’s plenty of time for high output but, when starting your Taekwondo journey, we know that concentrating on taking onboard the Basic moves is the most beneficial thing you can do.
- All the classes and atmosphere are non-confrontational. You may have a competitive mindset, however, The Sparring Squad is completely optional and selection-based. We do teach certain sparring moves, strategies and techniques in the class from time to time, which gives the added benefit of extra cardio though.
- Taekwondo training by nature is HIIT. Probably the original High Intensity Interval Training developed many thousands of years before the term even existed.
- One other aspect of Taekwondo Training is the feeling of post training exhilaration. Because we are constantly working Left to Right or Right to Left natural coordination is increased and the constant change from Left Hemisphere to Right Hemisphere within the brain refreshes and develops thinking whilst removing stress and reducing stress hormones within the body.
You won’t be thinking of work or life pressures during Taekwondo Class.
